Here is a unique opportunity to spend a day writing and enjoying the Selu Conservancy, with beautiful views and abundant trails along the Little River in Radford, Virginia. This day-long power workshop will cover the basics of memoir and creative nonfiction, including personal narrative. We’ll talk about why stories are important. Teaching methods include writing exercises, prompts, brainstorming, small groups, as well as mini-lectures on art and craft. We’ll cover the writing life, shaping a piece, how to write a personal essay, and getting published. This class is for anyone who wants to write, from beginners to those who are well-published. All are welcome! Only by telling our stories – and imagining new ones – can we create an honest world in which we can all lead more human and meaningful lives.
Bring your journal and pen. Lunch will be provided.
